As someone interested in sound recording in general, I thought it would be a good idea to combine the credits I have to include for the sound effects in each episode with information of why I chose them, plus how I edited them.
Here is the full list of sound effects including where I got them from, plus what the original script called for.
Mixed Sound Effects:
Giant’s Dungeon: Scolex_Water-dripping-in-cave (free sound) + Gamelan Melody (Jean) – this is the same mix I used in the Witch Princess episodes.
Giant Gunther pushes boat out to sea, crew falls over: BBC Boats Sailing Dinghy sail past left to right Recorded on shore – (Bought) mixed with Clive falls over by the cast.
Adobe Sound Effects used for:
Giant Footsteps: Foley Footsteps Soft Sole Work Boots Walking in Cement – used this multiple times in the episode for all the giant walking sounds except for:
Footsteps leave – by the cast – used this right at the end of the first segment as it sounds rather like a door being closed at the end of a long hallway! AKA them getting locked in giant prison!
Orson takes out sword: Weapon Sword Remove from Sheath – Same as in episode one, and with the sound being reversed for when the sword gets put back away.
Paper rustling: Foley Paper Wax Movements – surpisingly hard to find a sound that worked for the huge manuscript the treaty was written on. The wax paper rustling sounded the most realistic.
Prosound used for:
Giant Rats: Rats Biting Cloth, CU, Licking and Gnawing, Short Sniffles, Small Fast Movements, Hissing, Rustling Pro Sound.
Giant Gunther opening drawers:
Cabinet door, kitchen, wood, Open and Close, Multiple Times – Pro Sound.
Waves, ship creaking – ship – Thames Sailing Barge, Atmosphere Below Deck Under Sail, With Creaking Wood. (Recorded On Board S.B. Pudge.) (Bought) – That good old Thames Barge returns!
Freesound for:
Pulling Out Wooden Chair and Sitting Down – needed a noise for the giants arriving into the council chamber.

Cast for:
Int. Pocket
Ship out of pocket onto table – used for when they arrive into the council chamber, simply to signify that they’ve been taken back out the pocket!
Takes drum out of pocket: Ship out of pocket – when Gunther gives the drum to Aramelle
Clive and Aramelle get up: C and A get up – after they have fallen over and makes a good segway into Aramelle asking Clive what he knew about the mutiny.
Music:
Council chamber ambience – Giant Country Strings Stem and later Giant Country theme – the strings worked well for the small segments when we were going back and forth, but did the whole theme later on during the negotiations, looping the last part as it gave the most energy as the negotiations came to a close. It seemed strange to me to use this, but as I couldn’t find any medieval office ambience to use instead, I think it works well!
Drum noise – Giant Country Percussions Stem – just used when Gunther hands the drum to Aramelle and Orson takes it away.
